We're finally through the first week of the season, and we've all experienced some ups and downs. First off, I'd like to thank you RotoHogaholics for your patience as we went through some unforeseen technical issues here are RotoHog.com. We appreciate that very much. Now, lets take a look at a few players you may not have thought could have helped your team: Jose Lopez : 2B : Seattle Mariners : $10.53 Jose Lopez hit 11 home runs all of last year. In his first week of the '08 season, Lopez already has two. On Sunday, April 6th, Lopez stock rose over $3.00, an indication that many Fantasy Owners are catching onto this former All-Star's potential. Lopez is batting second in the Mariners lineup which will allow him to see plenty of fastballs and give him plenty of opportunities to score some runs. Howie Kendrick : 2B : Los Angeles Angels : $13.54 When Howie Kendrick came up from the minors, he was touted as a hitting machine. After suffering through injuries in 07', Kendrick is now on his way towards being one of the best hitters in the American League. Through the first week, Kendrick is hitting .435, with three RBI, five Runs, and two SB's. Kendrick should end the season as one of the top second baseman in the game. Bill Hall : 3B : Milwaukee Brewers : $9.48 When Bill Hall was moved to the outfield in '07 his numbers suffered greatly. Now, after the Brewers moved highly touted, error prone, Ryan Braun to left field, Hall is now back in the infield where he feels more comfortable. In the first week, Hall owners, which were few in RotoHog, enjoyed two HR's, seven RBI, three Runs, and a SB. I think Hall will enjoy a 25+ HR season this year, and will be a player that will stay under the radar. Xavier Nady : OF : Pittsburgh Pirates : $13.40 During the off-season the Pittsburgh Pirates were floating Xavier Nady's name around the league looking to deal the veteran outfielder. Now, the Pirates and his Fantasy Owners are enjoying Nady's hot start at the plate. Nady hit two home runs, drove in seven runs, and scored five times. Nady has had fast starts before in his career. In April of 2006, Nady hit .311, six HR's, 11 RBI, and 12 Runs. The problem though, is that after April, Nady's numbers took a nose dive. Buyer beware. With the good, always comes the bad. Here are a few players we all thought would help our Fantasy teams but just haven't panned out in the first week. Robinson Cano : 2B : New York Yankees : $22.45 Robinson Cano is coming off a 90+ RBI season in 2007, a career high. There was plenty of reason to expect he'd get off to a great start this year, but that plan has failed miserably. Cano is hitting .105 and still doesn't have an extra base hit. At $22.45, your money can be better spent elsewhere. Let Cano heat up before making the move to pick him up. Alfonso Soriano : OF : Chicago Cubs : $29.47 Many Fantasy Owners were expecting great things from Alfonso Soriano in '08. Soriano is in his second season with the Chicago Cubs, Manager Lou Pinella moved him down to second in the batting order which should give him a chance to drive in more runs and Soriano in the past, has been a threat to steal a base. Injuries though have slowed Soriano down. Good news though, Soriano hit his first home run of the season. At $29.47, Soriano is a bust, and your money should be moved to a player who'll get you positive points, not negative. There you have it, Week One is in the books. Now, here is a look at some two start pitchers that could help your RotoHog Fantasy Team in Week Two. Must-starts: Matt Cain - vs. SD (Greg Maddux), vs. STL (Todd Wellemeyer) Other Options: Jair Jurrjens - @COL (Aaron Cook), @WAS(Odalis Perez) |

What Paul hates are the fantasy experts who tell you what to do with your team, but don’t do the same thing on their fantasy teams. Paul wants to show you how he consistently wins his leagues and what he does to win them. Paul does not want to just write articles to tell you what you should do, he wants you to feel as though you are on his team. Born: Amityville, NY -- Yes, that's right the same place as the horror show. Explains a lot huh? Favorite Sport Baseball Sports Played: Baseball, Soccer, Football, Basketball Favorite covering sports moment: Getting to sit down and talk to Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider for two hours. We discussed the Brooklyn Dodgers day and their great teams, Jackie Robinson, and him being amongst the best OF'ers of his time. What a great man! If I was an athlete I would be like: Michael Jordan. This was a guy that took basketball to a whole new level. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were great for the NBA, but Jordan rose above the game and his influence can be seen in many of today's great players. CategoriesADVERTISEMENT
