No I'm not mixing a drink, those are just the things that can happen to a player during spring training. With weird and unusual injuries popping up all around spring training, it’s actually nice to see these headlines rather than the taboo word…STERIODS on every fish wrap. Freakish accidents happen all the time. My question is how do some of these accidents happen? Lets take Hunter Pence for instance. If you’ve never seen him run before, imagine a lion running through the high grass on a hot African day as he’s chasing down a gazelle. Each stride is in perfect harmony with its body. So fluid and precise, not a step taken out of rhythm. That’s exactly how Pence looks when he’s tracking down a fly ball in the outfield. It’s picture perfect. If that’s the case, how in the world do you fall through a glass door? Now, I know some of us put these guys on a pedestal, but come on. Can you really trust a guy who can’t figure out if the sliding glass door is closed or opened? Granted I’ve done that before I’ll admit it, but I going on a beer run not trying to track down a fly ball. I might be a professional beer drinker, but I don’t get paid millions to do it. If I fall through a glass door it’s the story I tell my friends for years. If you’re a professional ball player it’s one you hope doesn’t make the papers. That being said, I know these guys have rookie orientations, so why isn’t this in the manual: “When walking through the hallway ensure sliding glass door is opened before proceeding. If the glass door is closed, grab the handle and proceed to open the glass door until you can fit your body through it. In case of emergency, call a friend to open it for you. Never ever try to walk, fall or run through the glass. This could be hazardous to your career”. I know weirder things have happened. Here are some other weird injuries: The ten above were found on http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Park/1138/strangeinjuries.html check it out for some more funny injuries. |

Paul wants to show you how he consistently wins his leagues and what he does to win them. Paul does not want to just write articles to tell you what you should do, he wants you to feel as though you are on his team. Paul is co-owner of Gotham Sports Media , Gotham Baseball Magazine and Gotham Sports Radio and is a Principle Engineer with General Dynamics in San Antonio, TX. Favorite Sport Baseball Sports Played: Baseball, Soccer, Football, Basketball Favorite covering sports moment: Getting to sit down and talk to Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider for two hours. We discussed the Brooklyn Dodgers day and their great teams, Jackie Robinson, and him being amongst the best OF'ers of his time. What a great man! If I was an athlete I would be like: Michael Jordan. This was a guy that took basketball to a whole new level. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were great for the NBA, but Jordan rose above the game and his influence can be seen in many of today's great players. CategoriesADVERTISEMENT
