Before we get ready for Week 3, lets take a look back at the hot and cold performers for Week 2.

Raul Ibanez : OF : Seattle Mariners : $14.39

As the cartoon character, The Mask, once said, Raul Ibanez is “Smoking”!!! Ibanez enjoyed a great Week 2.  Not only did Ibanez hit .423, but added five home runs and nine RBI.  Ibanez, for all he's done over the last five years still doesn't get the noterity he deserves.  Many “Experts” believe it's because he plays on the west coast and for the Seattle Mariners, but many Fantasy Owners know that he's one of the most consistent outfielders in the game and is worth a roster spot. RotoHog Fantasy Owners may look away from Ibanez, but those that select him, will enjoy a player who'll hit close to .300 25+ HR's, 100 RBI, and 90+ Runs.

Carlos Pena : 1B : Tampa Bay Rays : $21.40

The big question coming into this season for Carlos Pena is whether or not he could duplicate his numbers from a year ago.  I don't know about you, but he's made me a believer.  After a slow start Week 2, Pena finished the week with a bang. With two home runs on April 11, Pena followed it with another long blast on the April 12th.   The average will not be there for Pena, but if you're looking a spot first baseman, or just a player to hit you some home runs, Pena is your man.

Lance Berkman : 1B : Houston Astros : $20.80

Lance Berkman is enjoying a six game hitting streak thru April 13th (9-23 - .391).  Berkman is one of those players that once he's in your lineup, you know he'll produce.  During Week 2, Berkman hit three home runs and drove in seven RBI.  At $20, Berkman is out hitting many of the top valued first baseman out there.

If you had any of these players on your team in Week 2, you know how difficult it was to score points.

Prince Fielder : 1B : Milwaukee Brewers : $26.33

Vegetarian? Yup. Prince Fielder made the switch in the off season, now many Fantasy Owners are wishing he'll switch back to meat.  Where has Fielder's power gone?  With only three extra base hits so far this season, many are asking the same question.  Don't expect this early season slump to last much longer as Fielder is to good of a hitter to keep down.  Keep an eye on the price of Fielder. If his price dips below $25, you may want to snatch him up and add him to your bench.

David Ortiz : DH : Boston Red Sox : $29.57

Big Sloppy” as many are calling David Ortiz this season, is off to one of the worst starts of his career.  When was the last time you didn't see Ortiz in the starting lineup against the Yankees. Can't remember, exactly my point (sat out last nights game at home against the Yankees). To me, his injuries, his knees, and the cold weather are just not  working for Ortiz in the early part of this season.  I'd wait until he gets himself a three or five game hitting streak before you put him into your lineup. At $29, he's just not worth the risk right now.

Justin Verlander : SP : Detroit Tigers : $19.47

Justin Verlander is killing me, and probably many of you at the start of the season. My pre-season Cy Young award winner is looking anything but that in April.  In Week 2, Verlander was 0-2, giving up 10 runs, while striking out seven and walking seven. Whats wrong with Verlander?  Many of the beat writers in Detroit think he's pressing.  With the slow start to the Tigers season, Verlander is feeling the pressure to get the Tigers more wins.

Stay positive as we go into Week 3.  This is where things start to fall into place.  Many of the hitters will have over 50 at-bats, while many starting pitchers will be pitching in their fourth game.  RotoHog is one of those unique Fantasy Baseball games where the season isn't over after the second week.  You have the opportunity to rebuild your team if it's busted on you.  Make the moves, watch the matchups, and make sure you have your pitchers ready to go prior to Monday's games.

Here is some information you can use going into Week 3:

Favorite Sport Baseball

Sports Played: Baseball, Soccer, Football, Basketball

Favorite covering sports moment: Getting to sit down and talk to Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider for two hours. We discussed the Brooklyn Dodgers day and their great teams, Jackie Robinson, and him being amongst the best OF'ers of his time. What a great man!

If I was an athlete I would be like: Michael Jordan. This was a guy that took basketball to a whole new level. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were great for the NBA, but Jordan rose above the game and his influence can be seen in many of today's great players.
