I'd like to thank the guys who sent me e-mails this week on the last blog post covering how to fix your slumping team. My fantasy owners tend to get down in the dumps when their teams get off to slow starts in April. Fear not, May is here. Now let's take a look at some of the latest news covering your fantasy players: - Brian Roberts has seen his average climb from .243 to .280 during a recent 10 game hitting streak. As Robert goes so does the Orioles. Roberts is a great source of runs, stolen bases, and of late RBI. He's a great addition to your team, and is a guy that won't hurt your point value. - Daniel Cabrera over his last several starts has finally come into his own. He's a decent spot starter in RotoHog. In his last start against the Mariners, Cabrera for the first time in 30 starts did not issue a walk in a game. - Dice-K has been brilliant this year. A 4-0 record to go along with a sizzling 2.52 ERA, Dice-K is a must start in any league. A stat to brag about: Red Sox Nation is 8-0 in his last eight starts. - Where did Cliff Lee come from? Although his 27 game consecutive scoreless innings streak was snapped the other night, Lee has shown that his numbers don't lie. Lee has only given up four runs this season and is averaging 7.5 innings per start. - Will the real Travis Hafner please stand up? Hafner was benched the other night to “clear his head”. Maybe what he needs to do is sacrifice a chicken. Hafner is flat out awful right now. It's not bad luck for Hafner, it's that he's just not doing it with the bat. We all hoped for the Hafner would return to his 2006 forum, but up to this point, Hafner hasn't showed Fantasy Owners that he should be a starter, in any league. - Who was that throw in player in the Miguel Cabrera deal this off-season? Oh ya, Dontrelle Willis. Cleared to make his first rehab start today, Willis is a guy that needs to get his junk together. Walks + tons of runs = horrible fantasy team. With Armando Galarraga pitching lights out as Willis' replacement, don't look for the Tigers to rush Willis. - GO SPEED RACER!!! Carlos Gomez swiped his 11th base this week, unfortunately that's the only reason he's in the lineup. His On Base Percentage (OBP) is horrible (.279), he strikes out to much for a lead off hitter (27 to date), and the kid isn't patient. If you need to hug it out for stolen bases, Gomez is great. Don't expect to get positive numbers five out of the seven nights he plays a week. - The recent Mariners call-up, Wladimir Balentien homered this week against Cleveland. The Mariners are planning on using him a lot, and many RotoHog Fantasy Owners are snatching him up quickly. I don't expect his player value to help your team throughout the season, but he's a great cash cow for now. - The weekend marks the return of Scott Kazmir to the Tampa Bay starting rotation. Who does he have to face? The Boston Red Sox. Kazmir has had success against the Red Sox in his career (6-5), but faces a hot John Lester who's coming off a spectacular performance against the Angels. This is one to keep an eye on. - Josh Hamilton has been a monster this season and over the last week, Rotohogaholics have noticed. With 32 RBI already, Hamilton has slowly quieted the critics who have said the Reds received the better end of the deal when they acquired Edison Volquez. - Speaking of Edison Volquez. Over his five starts this season, Volquez has enjoyed great run support from his mates. Over those five starts the Reds have stacked up 35 runs for Mr. Volquez. Not bad for a pitcher who's currently 4-0. - Derrek Lee now has eight home runs on the season and has answered any questions about his power, which disappeared in 2007. A great April could lead right into May, and Lee is guy you want to have on your roster at this point in the season. Not only does he slam home runs for your fantasy team, but his batting average won't hurt your point total. Have a great weekend and good luck to all. Profile: Since high school, Paul has had a blast playing Fantasy Sports. The guy lives and breathes it. From the strategy on draft day, to making trades or working the waiver wire, he loves the fantasy game. What Paul hates are the fantasy experts who tell you what to do with your team, but don’t do the same thing on their fantasy teams. Paul wants to show you how he consistently wins his leagues and what he does to win them. Paul does not want to just write articles to tell you what you should do, he wants you to feel as though you are on his team. Paul is co-owner of Gotham Sports Media , Gotham Baseball Magazine and Gotham Sports Radio and is a Principle Engineer with General Dynamics in San Antonio, TX. Paul is also the voice of RotoHog.com and has appeared on ESPN Radio, WIP in Philadelphia, and KALL 700 Sports in Salt Lake City. Born: Amityville, NY -- Yes, that's right the same place as the horror show. Explains a lot huh? Favorite Sport Baseball Sports Played: Baseball, Soccer, Football, Basketball Favorite covering sports moment: Getting to sit down and talk to Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider for two hours. We discussed the Brooklyn Dodgers day and their great teams, Jackie Robinson, and him being amongst the best OF'ers of his time. What a great man! If I was an athlete I would be like: Michael Jordan. This was a guy that took basketball to a whole new level. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were great for the NBA, but Jordan rose above the game and his influence can be seen in many of today's great players. CategoriesADVERTISEMENT
