It’s been called baseball’s greatest hit. And no matter what team or player you are a fan of, if you’re a true baseball lover, you’ll have agree! This year is the 100th anniversary of baseball’s greatest hit “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” The song was copyrighted on May 2, 1908 and it has become a baseball tradition ever since! In fact, it is so much a part of Americana that many consider it the third most recognizable song from America. (Just behind “Happy Birthday to You” and the National Anthem.) For a good read, check out the book: Baseball's Greatest Hit: The Story of Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

Just think of how many times you have sung the song. Or think of how many people have tried Cracker Jacks just because of the song. (Mark up one for this girl!) Songs and sports go hand in hand. Here are some other songs out there that celebrate sports just like baseball’s greatest hit!

• The Hockey Song (The Good Old Hockey Game) for a taste: http://www.imeem.com/candapanda521/music/E6NyJjmS/the_good_old_hockey_ga...

• We Are the Champions…It’s a classic! No denying it! The song is always played after a team wins a championship.

• Heart of a Champion (Nelly). Got to show the love for the Lou!

• Rock And Roll part II (The Hey Song). Listen real close the next time you catch a televised Kansas City Chief’s game after they score a touchdown…AWESOME fan created lyrics…other fans should really catch on!

• Centerfield (John Fogerty). A feel-good song for baseball fans!

• Bring em out (T.I.). I dare you not to get pumped up by this song!

• Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond). I would be remised if I didn’t throw this one out there! It became an official tradition in 2002 for the Boston Red Sox and is played in the bottom of the 8th inning.

I could go on all day…so what are some of your favorite sports songs? Leave a comment and let me know!
