Is it baseball season already? Oops, did I forget (misremember) to write spring training on my calendar? How did I allow America’s Pastime to creep up on me so quickly? It isn’t my fault really, I have been so busy with my other responsibilities: campaigning as the Romney Girl (I’m sure you heard of me – only slightly less successful than the Obama Girl); drafting contract after contract to single-handedly end the writer’s strike, negotiating star-studded trades in the NBA Western Conference, and righting the rocky course of America’s sweetheart, Britney. Oh yea, and I’ve been watching Laker games. Lots of them. Oh, and The Wire started up again.

Let’s see… what else…. Alright, I have a confession. I am not a baseball fan. I do not watch baseball. I do not even have a favorite baseball team. I am, however, a very competitive and ambitious individual, so when my colleagues (ok, bosses) here at RotoHog asked me if I’d be “interested” in (told to start) writing a blog about fantasy baseball, I gladly accepted.

Not only will I be writing about my struggles and successes playing RotoHog Fantasy Baseball, but I am going to attempt to become a baseball fan.

Let me be clear when I state that I have little to no baseball background. Just yesterday, I asked a coworker how you know which side of the “ballpark,” as they call it, is right and left field. While my task may seem daunting, I’m up for the challenge. In general, I do love watching sports, reading about sports, and talking about sports. There has to be a reason our country has been enamored with this sport for so many years, and I’m genuinely excited to find out why.

My first task is to pick a team to root for. I’m a Southern California girl from Los Angeles (not the Los Angeles of Anaheim of Los Anaheim or whatever), so it’s natural I’d be a Dodger fan. However… if anyone out there can convince me of otherwise, I’m open to suggestions. Leave me a comment and let me know why I should root for your team!

Swing and a Miss: Jocelyn's Blog : http://community.rotohog.com/jocelyn/swing-and-miss-jocelyns-blog

Profile: Jocelyn has never jumped on a bandwagon in her life, yet was blessed to root for some of history’s greatest teams. A lifelong Steelers fan, she now has one for the thumb. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 6 and fell in love with the purple and gold legacy. Kobe’s #1 fan thought all was lost until the Lakers surged Pau-erfully in 2008. As a graduate from the greatest university in the history of the universe, USC, she saw her football team lose a total of four times. Jocelyn played soccer for 16 years, four on the current National Champion USC Women’s Soccer team. She turned down a multi-million dollar professional soccer contract to pursue her true passion, marketing fantasy sports. The majority of her life as a sports fan was dedicated to the Lake Show, the Steelers, and becoming the next Kristine Lily. This left little time for baseball. After just learning what a walk-off home run is and that Coco Crisp is not just a cereal, she is taking her first shot at conquering fantasy baseball.
