With baseball starting it felt right to get in spirit with my Top 10 Baseball Movies. Most of these you should have seen, but all are worth seeing again. Please note that it does not say “… of All Time” as these are all color movies and aren’t musicals so Pride of the Yankees, Damn Yankees!, Yankee Doodle and so on have been excluded. 10. A League of Their Own Yes, it’s about women playing baseball, but it’s a good movie. You can even stand Rosie O’Donnell for all two hours. The Mocking Draft Let’s face it. All the Mock Drafts out there – and there are thousands upon thousands now – are all about as accurate as Ryan Leaf on a bad day. I’ll give exceptions for maybe Gil Brandt and Pat Kirwan, as they are worthwhile. Notice I did not include Mel Kiper, Jr. mainly because it seems he has been replaced recently at ESPN by an actor simply playing the part of Mel Kiper, Jr. much the way they did with Dick Vitale years ago, but I digress. The first ever Mocking Draft was held in my kitchen last night and determined the Top 32 fictional football characters. Eagles/Jets fans, get ready to boo. A little bit of everything from the NFL Draft in New York City. First things first. The most impressive thing I saw in New York all weekend (other than the filet at Sparks) was Brandon Jacobs. The guy is Large – capital L. I was a bystander in a conversation between him and Stephen Jackson, and the two of them together were impressive, but the Giant’s running back lived up to his team name. Talking later with Pierre Thomas and Cato June, they came nowhere close to Jacobs in size. Kudos to both of them for having to tackle the likes of Jackson and Jacobs, as they were both giving away at least 50 lbs. to each of the RBs. ![]() Judgment Call

Okay, let’s take a look at some current events and news stories and I want you to recall your first reaction when you heard each of them. Story #1: Sean Avery, the somewhat controversial left wing for the New York Rangers, will intern at Vogue this summer. Yes, that Vogue. Well, Men’s Vogue to be exact. According to his publicist, “He is ridiculously obsessed with fashion. He loves it more than anything in the world. It's something he has always wanted to do." Good for Sean. We should all be so lucky to follow our dreams. Twice. Read more » |
