Welcome to my blog on RotoHog! I’m looking forward to a full season of talking football with everyone, but first it’s the other football. Soccer was my first love in Nigeria. The Super Eagles won this morning (very early this morning) in China. Unfortunately it was against the U.S., but what a game it was. It was close throughout with neither team able to close it out, and the U.S. playing with only 10 men after three minutes. I’m excited to watch them play on. Most people don’t know this but with my soccer background I was actually the back-up placekicker behind Nick Lowery in Kansas City. That brings us to the other football. I thought I’d start off the season and give my opinions on some of the top running backs. Let’s start in Kansas City. I expect a big year from Larry Johnson. It takes more than a year to recover after a season like he had two years ago with so many carries. With the time off last year with his foot injury, he should be better than ever. Reports from camp are very impressive too. Expect even bigger things from Little LT. Why “Little”? There’s only one LT in my book and that’s Lawrence Taylor. You have to respect that man. Little LT is tough and fast. He’s a lot like Walter Payton. He can run, catch and even throw the ball, but he’s faster than Walter. Walter was tough, but not that fast. Little LT is both. He’s the #1 back until someone can show me otherwise. Stephen Jackson is another top back that is going high in fantasy football drafts. I’m worried that he just doesn’t pick his feet up high enough, and he runs too upright. I talked to Eric Dickerson about Stephen and he agreed. He is a good back, but he could be looking at more injuries this year because of his running style. I like Brian Westbrook a lot. He plays hurt so much. He’s tough and talented. That guy will be on my RotoHog fantasy team for sure. Tomorrow we can talk about the younger backs: Adrian Peterson and rookie Darren McFadden. Don’t forget to sign up and play against me in my fantasy league at RotoHog.com.
