Mock Draft Contest Winner....I mean Entry.

-Chicago Bulls: Derrick Rose-After a lot of back and forth discussion the Bulls decide to go with their PG of the future in Rose. CP3 and D. Williams have shown what a dominant leader can do for an offense and the Bulls need that spark.

-Miami Heat: O.J. Mayo-Amazingly the Heat are rumored to pass on Beasley due to some character issues and instead are going to go with... O.J. Mayo?! That’s true; he doesn’t have any character issues at all right?

-Minnesota T’Wolves-Michael Beasley-This kid went from unanimous #1 to possibly #3? He does not fill any needs for Minnesota but there is simply no way they can pass on him if he’s still available.

-Seattle Supersonics-Brook Lopez-It’s not every day you get the chance to draft a “franchise” type center. The Sonics are putting together a nice young core and Lopez will be a nice piece to add.

-Memphis Grizzlies-Eric Gordon-Like the Bulls with Rose, the Grizz go with the flow of the league these days and select a PG that can take over the game. Gordon’s development could have used another season or two in college, but he will get a chance to grow in the pros now! Gordon and Rudy Gay could make for an entertaining backcourt.

-New York Knicks- Kevin Love-Boo! Boo! Get use to the Mr. Walsh. Knicks fans will not be satisfied outside of Rose, Beasley, or Mayo. Those same fans, however, will grow to “Love” this pick. They are getting a hard working kid that will do whatever it takes to win. Picture David Lee with some talent.

-LA Clippers- Jerryd Bayless-The Clippers will have a lot of holes to fill soon. Corey Maggette will almost assuredly opt-out of his contract and Elton Brand seems to want out of town. Therefore, the Clippers must select the best player available at this spot and many think that may be Bayless.

-Milwaukee Bucks-Joe Alexander-If the Knicks pass on him at #6 look for the Bucks to scoop up the camp sensation. Alexander’s stock started to rise during the 2007 NCAA tournament and has continued to skyrocket during workouts and camp. The athletic forward would be a nice fit with Andrew Bogut and Yi.

-Charlotte Bobcats-Russell Westbrook- Westbrook is another player that could’ve used another year or two in college but decided to enter the draft and grab a handful of cash! The Bobcats already have Raymond Felton running the point but his history of health issues help make this pick easier to swallow for Larry Brown and the Bobcat faithful.

-New Jersey Nets- Danilo Gallinari-Gallinari gives the Nets a young athletic forward to go along with their young core of players (Boone, Williams, Harris). Danilo will give New Jersey a scoring threat that can also create matchup problems for opponents with his speed and long wingspan.

-Indiana Pacers-D.J. Augustin-This decorated college player may have the best overall skill set of any PG in this year’s draft. His size, however, will limit what he can do in the NBA. D.J. should fill in nicely for the often injured Jamal Tinsley.

-Sacramento Kings-Anthony Randolph-A reoccurring theme in this year’s draft; a player that could use another year or two playing college basketball. He is a little thin for the NBA but he has an abundance of upside. The Kings need help at the 4 and 5 spots on the floor and Anthony will eventually be an all-star.

-Portland Trailblazers-DeAndre Jordan- I fully expect to see the Trailblazers trade out of this pick and it wouldn’t shock me to see them move down just a few spots swapping places with the 76ers. Philly has been high on Mr. Jordan and may jump up to grab him before it’s too late.

-Golden State Warriors-Kosta Kofus-Kosta has loads of ability and should help stretch the floor for the high-tempo offense of the Warriors. The coaches need to keep a rope tied around him so that he doesn’t roam out to the arc too often, but he can knock down the mid-range jumper with no issue.

-Phoenix Suns-Brandon Rush-This is a perfect fit for the Suns if they indeed trade Leonardo Barbosa. Brandon could step in right away and help run the offense with the aging Steve Nash. Rush could eventually be known as the steal of this draft.

-Philadelphia 76ers-Darrell Arthur-Arthur was part of a very strong Kansas Jayhawks team so his collegiate numbers will not jump out at you. I expect this pick will be traded for the #13 pick of the Portland Trailblazers. Arthur’s athleticism and scoring would give Portland another solid youngster in their rotation.

-Toronto Raptors-Marrese Speights-The Raptors are strong enough to take a gamble on Marrese. He will eventually be a very good NBA player, but it may take a couple of years. Toronto has time to wait and will eventually be rewarded on their gamble.

-Washington Wizards-Mario Chalmers-Mario’s stock has never been higher and he intends on cashing in on it. He will give the Wizards some backcourt help and hopefully help ease the pain if they lose Agent Zero. An excellent defensive player with the ability to slash to the basket, Chalmers will be able to help Washington improve on both ends of the court.

-Cleveland Cavs-Donte Greene-This 6’11’’ PF will step right in and give the Cavs another scoring option next season. He may not be the exact type of player Mr. Lebron James would like to see the Cavs select, but this looks to be the direction they may be going.

-Denver Nuggets-Alexis Ajinca-Denver was hoping like heck that Kosta would somehow slip to them but instead they’ll settle for the shot-blocking Ajinca. This youngster needs to start packing on the pounds or he will be bumped and bruised right out of the league. He will, however, go a long way in helping the Nuggets sorry excuse for a defense.

-New Jersey Nets-J.J. Hickson-J.J. will give the Nets a scrapping youngster that isn’t afraid to mix it up. At 6’9’’ he manages to get his hands on his fair-share of rebounds. That alone should show you his mental makeup and toughness.

-Orlando Magic-Chris Douglas-Roberts-CDR will step right in and contribute his rookie season. The Magic are looking for help at guard and CDR is the best option left of the board. He is a very experienced and “witty” player that should fit in nicely in Orlando.

-Utah Jazz-Roy Hibbert-This shock-blocking machine has seen his stock drop rapidly in the last season. If he falls this far the Jazz will be getting a very good player in a spot they couldn’t have possibly imagined they would. Hibbert would give Williams a true big man to help run the offense with and is quick enough to be a big factor in the pick-and-roll game.

-Seattle Supersonics-Courtney Lee-Scoring Machine…need I say more? Courtney will help take some of the scoring pressure off of Durant in Seattle. Unfortunately I see him as being an Eddie House type of player in the NBA, not exactly what you’re looking for in a first round pick.

-Houston Rockets-Robin Lopez-“The Other Lopez Twin” will give the Rockets a player that will allow Yao Ming to take some time off during the regular season. Robin has a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the court but working with a player like Yao can only help.

-San Antonio Spurs-JaVale McGee-The Spurs are good and deep enough to take a little bit of a gamble here with McGee. He is a big body that can learn and grow under one of the best PF/C in the leagues.

-New Orleans Hornets-Jason Thompson-Jason will give the Hornets a big body to help bang around and grab the tough rebound. He played at Rider, so the competition level will be a serious step up from his past experience.

-Memphis Grizzlies-Nicolas Batum-Nicolas is a very good shooter that tends to disappear at times. He will, however, help take the place of Mike Miller if the Grizzlies are able to trade him away before next season.

-Detroit Pistons-Bill Walker-The Pistons, like the Spurs, are in a position that allows them to take a little bit of a gamble. Walker had a very promising future coming through high school and has quietly continued to improve while battling a few injuries. If he can remain healthy he would give Detroit a nice player to put on the court with their stars. After playing high school ball with OJ Mayo and college with Michael Beasley, Walker is use to flying under the radar.

-Boston Celtics-Ryan Anderson-Ryan is another player with loads of ability but may be a year or two away from reaching his potential. He will have time to grow with the Celtics as they are pretty good at every position right now. Getting selected to the defending champions and being able to learn from the likes of KG should do wonders for Mr. Anderson.
