Mon. 8/18 – Mark Buehrle ($7.97), Chw vs. Sea – Despite one horrendous start earlier this month, Buehrle has been one of the better pitchers in all of baseball since the month of June. He has an easier matchup here against the Mariners and is definitely worth the price tag. Prediction: 26.84 points - Break Even #: 17.67 points – Value: $18.82

Tue. 8/19 – Kevin Slowey ($4.64), Min vs. Oak – Slowey gets to face the worst hitting road team in all of baseball in the A’s (who sport a pathetic .669 OPS on the road this year). Slowey is a safe play because he keeps the ball over the plate and doesn’t give away too many ‘free passes’. Prediction: 23.72 points - Break Even #: 14.86 points – Value: $15.12

Wed. 8/20 – Brett Myers ($8.84), Phi vs. Wsh– There is no denying that Myers has been a major disappointment the past couple of seasons and that he is an absolute head-case. He still has the talent to be unhittable on some nights…I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this will be one of those nights. Prediction: 22.35 points - Break Even #: 18.41 points – Value: $13.50

Thur. 8/21 – Josh Johnson ($3.58), Fla @ SF – Josh underwent Tommy John surgery a year ago and has been nothing short of amazing in his 7 starts this season. It will be interesting to see how he holds up for his 5-6 starts to close out the season, but I think he’s a fairly safe play here against the Giants. Prediction: 23.41 points - Break Even #: 13.97 points – Value: $14.76

Fri. 8/22 – Dave Bush ($4.42), Mil vs. Pit – Bush has trimmed down his ERA from 6.04 to a respectable 4.26 since the beginning of June. He is in great form right now and getting him for less than $5 should be considered stealing. Prediction: 21.76 points - Break Even #: 14.67 points – Value: $12.80

Sat. 8/23 – Jason Marquis ($3.96), Chc vs. Wsh – Check back for an update as to which way the wind is blowing at Wrigley come Saturday morning. I will keep everyone posted and may have to switch to Jon Garland here if the wind is gusting out to center. Prediction: 22.17 points - Break Even #: 14.29 points – Value: $13.29

Sun. 8/24 – Kevin Correia ($3.27), SF vs. SD – Sunday is a lackluster day as far as cheap pitchers are concerned and Kevin is the winner by default here. He has pitched fairly well the past month and gets a great matchup at home against the Padres. Prediction: 18.96 points - Break Even #: 13.70 points – Value: $9.49
