Will Eric Gagne ever get his closing duties back this year?

Gagne pretty much demoted himself by saying he 'doesn't deserve the ball in the ninth'. Is there any reason to believe he will be able to regain his form as a middle-reliever and ease back into the closer role? Or is he just "washed up"?

Gagne was the most exciting pitcher in baseball during his streak and it's sad that the cloud of steroids hangs over my memories of those achievements. Ever since he has been off the juice there have been nothing but injury problems and mediocrity. He's done.
